Senior Product Manager, Perception & World Understanding Skills
Job details
About this role
Role overview A humanoid robotics company is hiring a Senior Product Manager to lead the strategy and roadmap for perception and learned intelligence capabilities on its commercially deployed bipedal robot. The role sits at the intersection of robotics, AI, computer vision, and real-world autonomy, partnering with perception, ML, simulation, and software engineering to turn research capabilities into production behavior. Success means deciding what the robot must understand about its surroundings, how that understanding matures, and when it is ready for customer deployments.
Responsibilities - Own the multi-quarter roadmap for perception and world-understanding capabilities that support expanding real-world applications. - Translate customer workflows and application requirements into clear technical requirements for scene understanding, object understanding, learned behaviors, adaptation, and motion planning. - Define product-level performance metrics and evaluation criteria including accuracy, robustness, generalization, latency, and failure behavior. - Drive capability maturity from research and prototype stages through validation, productization, and production deployment. - Partner with AI, models, and tools teams to translate capability needs into requirements for models, datasets, training systems, tooling, and infrastructure. - Coordinate dependencies across task skills, robot software, hardware, simulation, infrastructure, customer applications, and deployment systems.
Requirements - Significant experience as a product manager for highly technical products combining robotics, AI, or machine learning with production outcomes. - Ability to bridge emerging AI and robotics research with concrete product requirements and measurable customer value. - Familiarity with perception, scene understanding, autonomy, simulation, and learned-behavior evaluation. - Comfort defining quantitative performance metrics and making build-versus-buy trade-offs across models, tooling, and infrastructure. - Strong collaboration skills across perception, ML, autonomy, simulation, and systems engineering teams.
Benefits and work setup - Anticipated base salary range of $155,000 to $242,000 USD, with the posted range tied to market location, knowledge, skills, and experience. - 401(k) plan with a 6% company match and equity in the form of stock options. - 100% company-paid medical, dental, vision, and short- and long-term disability insurance for employees, with benefits starting on day one. - Employee Assistance Program, flexible unlimited paid time off for exempt staff, and 12 company holidays including a winter shutdown. - Catered lunches several times a week, generous paid parental leave, professional development and tuition reimbursement, and relocation assistance for eligible roles.
