About this role
Role overview A software engineering role based in Latin America, focused on building scalable data infrastructure that supports the development of frontier foundation models for leading AI labs. The engineer will take end-to-end ownership of projects that power evaluation and data workflows for an applied research lab serving top AI labs. It is a high-ownership, fast-paced environment with a strong bias toward shipping.
Responsibilities - Design and build scalable systems, with a focus on the platform's expert-facing site. - Collaborate across research, product, and design to ship features quickly without sacrificing quality. - Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to documentation. - Participate in code reviews and design discussions, and help solve real-world scalability and reliability challenges. - Contribute to the core infrastructure powering data and evaluation for the world's leading AI labs.
Requirements - Ideally 5+ years of relevant engineering experience. - Strong coding fundamentals in Node.js and TypeScript, Python, and/or Go. - Deep understanding of distributed systems, scalability challenges, and system design. - Familiarity with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS, Kubernetes, APIs, and NoSQL databases. - Ability to reason about trade-offs and balance speed versus reliability under pressure, with a high-output, high-accountability mindset. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate why you want to join a startup and work in AI.
Nice to have - Background as a founding engineer at a high-growth startup. - Experience as a founder of a technically sophisticated and complex product. - Track record of succeeding in past fast-paced startup roles with strong references.
