Role overview
This Staff Software Engineer position focuses on shaping the continuous integration infrastructure that powers engineering teams' ability to ship software rapidly and reliably. The role sits at the intersection of platform engineering and developer experience, blending deep systems work with cross-organizational collaboration. It is a senior, hands-on technical leadership role responsible for the design, scalability, and reliability of build and deployment pipelines used across multiple services and platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and ongoing optimization of build systems, test orchestration, and deployment pipelines spanning many services and platforms - Improve developer feedback loops by reducing build times, expanding test coverage, and sharpening reporting quality - Build monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes that keep CI systems highly available - Partner with product and platform engineering teams to streamline integrations and deployment workflows - Identify friction in developer workflows and lead tooling, automation, and best-practice initiatives to remove it - Mentor CI engineers, set technical direction, and align CI strategy with broader platform and product goals
Requirements
- Track record leading engineering efforts in CI, build systems, or developer productivity - Hands-on experience with modern build platforms and artifact repositories such as Buildkite, GitHub Actions, or Artifactory - Comfort working in cloud-native environments including AWS, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tooling - Strong programming background in languages such as Python, Kotlin, or Java, with the ability to guide technical decisions - Experience managing build frameworks at the scale of large monorepos - Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent practical experience

- Active contributions to open source projects - Prior experience delivering software at a large-scale technology organization - Curiosity about applying AI-assisted tools to improve engineering productivity and collaboration
