Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Consumer Data Platform)

Role overview

Design and operate backend services that support customer communications, personalization, and experimentation at large scale. You’ll help shape project priorities with product and data partners, while contributing to reliable systems that influence how customers discover and engage with products.

Responsibilities

- Build scalable APIs, services, and data models for communications, experimentation, and personalization. - Help plan and prioritize work against product, technical, and business goals, using data to guide decisions. - Partner with product managers, data scientists, analysts, and design teams on customer acquisition and engagement initiatives. - Maintain secure, observable, high-performing services, including metrics, availability, and on-call support. - Mentor less experienced engineers and promote sound engineering practices.

Requirements

- At least 6 years of backend software engineering experience, including delivery of complex production systems. - Strong knowledge of distributed systems and service-oriented architecture, including scalability, reliability, and maintainability trade-offs. - Proficiency in Python, Kotlin, or a similar language; experience with both Python and Kotlin is useful. - Experience with AWS or another major cloud platform. - Clear written and verbal communication, including design documents and technical plans, and the ability to work across disciplines. - A related bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

- Experience with A/B testing, feature flags, event-driven architectures, or stream processing tools such as Kafka or Kinesis. - Exposure to large-scale messaging, recommendation, or personalization systems.
