Senior Software Engineer, Backend (AI Platform)

Role overview Build the backend platform that helps engineering teams move AI workloads from experimentation into reliable production use. You’ll own services for model access, agent execution, and evaluation, with an emphasis on secure tool use, operational reliability, and clear accounting for usage and cost.

Responsibilities - Lead technical work from design through launch and operational support, including on-call ownership. - Build and scale services for model gateways, agent runtimes, and AI evaluation and observability. - Develop identity, quota, routing, caching, and failover controls for model and tool access. - Work with security, infrastructure, and product engineering to define guardrails and delegated identity for agents. - Set service metrics and maintain monitoring, alerts, and runbooks; improve design and code review practices. - Mentor teammates and share engineering practices through written guidance and technical discussions.

Requirements - At least four years designing, building, and launching backend systems, using languages such as Python or Kotlin. - Experience developing highly available distributed systems with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. - Practical production experience with LLMs, agents, or AI frameworks, such as inference APIs, gateways, tool calling, evaluations, or agent runtimes. - Ability to plan significant system or feature delivery and produce clear, extensible designs and maintainable code. - Experience making substantial changes safely in large codebases, with strong written and verbal communication skills. - A related bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
