Business Analyst / Product Owner

Role overview This position bridges business analysis and product ownership on a senior delivery team modernizing a mission-critical platform in the aviation sector. The work centers on reverse-engineering a legacy system and shaping the target-state design, then translating that vision into a clear, prioritized delivery backlog. The successful hire will work in close partnership with architects, engineers, and client stakeholders across business, operations, and IT functions.

Responsibilities - Analyze the existing solution by examining Java/Spring code, Oracle schemas, PL/SQL, configuration files, and data samples to surface business rules, validations, message flows, and edge cases. - Map current operational processes—manual and semi-automated—through stakeholder interviews, shadowing, and artifact review, identifying pain points, workarounds, and risks. - Produce As-Is documentation covering process maps, integration and data-flow diagrams, a business-rule catalogue, and a gap analysis against existing requirements. - Design To-Be processes for the modernized platform, including exception handling, operational monitoring, and analytics use cases enabled by Databricks. - Define portal and operational tooling

requirements: user roles, journeys, screen-level functional specifications, wireframes, and the data and APIs each view depends on. - Own and prioritize the product backlog, write epics and user stories with testable acceptance criteria, and balance scope trade-offs against the delivery plan.

Requirements - At least four years of commercial experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or Systems Analyst, ideally on legacy modernization, migration, or integration projects. - Demonstrated ability to read code (Java/Spring preferred) and write SQL against Oracle or PostgreSQL to validate assumptions about existing logic. - Strong process-modeling capability with BPMN, swimlane diagrams, data-flow and integration diagrams, and business-rule documentation. - Hands-on experience defining internal portals or tooling from the business side, including functional specs and wireframes that engineering teams can build against. - Familiarity with modern cloud architectures (ideally Azure), REST APIs and integrations, and data platforms such as Databricks. - Comfort working on business-critical operational systems where downtime and errors carry direct real-world impact, plus solid backlog-management discipline in Jira/Confluence or equivalent.

Nice to have - Exposure to AI-assisted analysis tools and modern engineering practices. - Experience coordinating parallel-run and cutover scenarios with defined fallback procedures.
