Security Architect Specialist

Role overview

This security architecture specialist role sits within an enterprise security engineering team supporting federal IT operations. The position focuses on tracking Authority to Operate projects, applying federal security standards, and collaborating across IT and security groups to embed secure design practices into new solutions.

Responsibilities

- Provide day-to-day tracking of ATO projects and report status during daily standups - Document strategies for security engineering and compliance workflows - Support control assessments, document control responses, and identify process improvements - Review control assessments for completeness and escalate issues to the team lead - Apply enterprise security standards within ATO and Security Impact Analysis reviews - Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and other process documentation - Coordinate with application stakeholders to gather responses needed for ATO deliverables

Requirements

- US citizenship required - 2-3 years of information security or related working experience - Hands-on familiarity with NIST 800-171 r2 or NIST 800-53 - Understanding of US security requirements and policy/standard/procedure structures - Comfort adapting to rapid changes in business needs, processes, and technologies

Nice to have

- 2+ years in security architecture or closely related roles - Experience operating security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, or endpoint security - Understanding of secure web protocols including HTTPS, TLS, and SFTP - Familiarity with US security regulations and standards such as RMF, SOX, and DFARS
