About this role
Role overview This position supports a federal agency mission by designing, implementing, and managing F5 Application Delivery Controller infrastructure for mission-critical systems. The role centers on hands-on engineering of load balancing, traffic management, and application security configurations within a regulated government environment, with strict attention to compliance and high availability.
Responsibilities - Configure and manage F5 BIG-IP platforms across LTM, GTM, ASM, and APM modules to deliver applications reliably. - Build and optimize virtual servers, pools, nodes, health monitors, persistence profiles, and SSL profiles. - Write, test, and troubleshoot iRules and Tcl scripts that implement custom traffic management logic. - Apply Web Application Firewall rules, bot defense, and DDoS protections through Application Security Manager policies. - Manage SSL certificate lifecycles, offloading, and encryption policies aligned with federal standards. - Maintain high availability topologies, including active/standby and active/active setups, and integrate F5 with adjacent network infrastructure such as next-generation firewalls. - Plan and execute platform upgrades and patches, and document configurations, changes, and runbooks.
Requirements - Five or more years of hands-on networking experience. - Two or more years working directly with F5 technologies, including proven expertise with BIG-IP LTM, GTM, ASM, or related modules. - Experience operating enterprise load balancers in production. - Familiarity with cloud infrastructure concepts and patterns. - An active Secret security clearance.
