About this role

Role overview Lead the Security Incident Response function, building and managing a team of engineers who treat response as an engineering discipline rather than a queue. The role blends people leadership, incident command, and hands-on work scaling automation and AI-assisted tooling that make detection, triage, and investigation faster over time. It also carries significant influence on cross-functional response strategy as part of the security leadership team.

Responsibilities - Hire, develop, and manage a team of incident response engineers, owning performance reviews, career growth, and psychological safety. - Step in as incident manager during complex, high-severity events, providing structure and calm under pressure. - Drive program maturity by building or scaling response automation, enrichment, and AI-assisted triage workflows with clear judgment about where automation should and should not make decisions. - Set clear expectations, define ownership, delegate work, and measure outcomes across the team. - Translate strategic initiatives into coordinated sprints, balancing competing priorities. - Partner cross-functionally with engineering, product, and other security functions to shape response strategy and protect a widely deployed product.

Requirements - 5+ years in security incident response, including 2+ years managing people or leading technical teams. - Hands-on experience building or scaling response automation, tooling, or AI-assisted workflows for triage, enrichment, or investigation. - Track record managing high-pressure security incidents with clarity and structure. - Strong understanding of cloud-native, SaaS, and identity-driven attack techniques and how to respond to them. - Ability to communicate complex findings, tradeoffs, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Demonstrated passion for fostering psychological safety and stability in stressful environments.

Nice to have - Experience operating in a remote-first engineering culture with periodic in-person offsites and travel.
