BI Engineer (m/w/d) – Data Engineering & KI-Infrastruktur

Role overview The position sits within a Technology and Support team and combines business intelligence engineering with data engineering and AI infrastructure work. It is a permanent role open to experienced candidates and can be performed full-time or part-time, with workplace flexibility across multiple German federal states including Thüringen, Hamburg, Berlin, Baden-Württemberg, Hessen, Bayern, and Nordrhein-Westfalen.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain BI solutions that turn operational and business data into reliable reports and dashboards. - Develop and operate data engineering pipelines that feed BI outputs and downstream AI workloads. - Contribute to the AI infrastructure layer that supports model training, deployment, and serving. - Participate in IT project management activities, coordinating stakeholders, timelines, and delivery milestones. - Collaborate with software and IT teams to integrate BI components into broader product and platform workflows.

Requirements - Approximately 2–5 years of professional experience in BI engineering, data engineering, or a closely related field. - Solid understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT patterns, and at least one BI platform. - Hands-on experience with relational databases, SQL, and data pipeline tooling. - Familiarity with AI or ML infrastructure concepts such as model serving, data versioning, or MLOps practices. - Working proficiency in German or English within an international engineering environment.

Nice to have - Prior exposure to IT project management or product ownership alongside engineering work.
