Generative AI Engineer

Role overview The team is building the AI and agentic capabilities behind an open, vendor-agnostic data platform that lets organizations query, govern, and activate their data in place across distributed sources. This role focuses on designing and shipping generative AI features and intelligent agents that help analysts and applications work with enterprise data without traditional ETL pipelines. The position is full-time and remote, working at the intersection of applied AI and large-scale data infrastructure.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and ship generative AI features and agentic workflows that operate on top of a federated data layer - Integrate with underlying query and processing engines such as Spark, Presto, and Trino to deliver governed, real-time access to enterprise data - Collaborate with engineering, product, and data teams to translate AI capabilities into measurable customer outcomes - Contribute to architecture decisions around model selection, orchestration, and evaluation for production AI systems - Champion engineering best practices including testing, observability, and documentation for AI-driven components - Stay current with the rapidly evolving LLM and agent landscape, evaluating new tools and approaches for fit

Requirements - Hands-on experience building production generative AI or LLM-powered applications - Strong proficiency in Python and modern ML/AI frameworks - Solid understanding of data infrastructure concepts, including query engines, data governance, and distributed compute - Experience designing and deploying agentic systems or workflow orchestration for AI use cases - Track record of working across teams to take AI features from prototype to production - Commitment to continuous learning, balanced with pragmatic execution and accountability

Nice to have - Familiarity with open data formats and federated query architectures - Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerized deployments - Exposure to enterprise data security, compliance, and cost-management concerns
