Role overview

This opportunity invites senior and lead-level engineers to join a platform engineering function within the online betting and gaming sector. The position centres on designing, building, running, and continually improving cloud-native platforms that allow product engineering teams to ship dependable, scalable, and secure software. The lead variant adds people leadership, stakeholder engagement, and roadmap ownership on top of the same hands-on technical remit.

Responsibilities

- Take ownership of the operational health, reliability, scalability, and performance of Kubernetes-based platforms and containerised workloads, including an Amazon EKS estate. - Manage and evolve Kubernetes clusters through workload deployment, configuration management, upgrades, and ongoing operations. - Champion and maintain GitOps practices so that infrastructure and application changes are consistent, automated, and auditable. - Build and refine infrastructure-as-code that supports repeatable, secure cloud environments across capacity, performance, cost, and lifecycle concerns. - Improve CI/CD pipelines to speed up delivery, raise deployment reliability, and reduce manual overhead. - Partner with product engineering teams on application deployment, troubleshooting, observability, and platform adoption, plus respond to incidents and run root cause analysis. - For the lead track: own the platform roadmap, prioritise work with stakeholders, mentor engineers, and translate business priorities into clear delivery plans.

Requirements

- Significant production experience operating Kubernetes, covering cluster administration, networking, security, workload management, and performance tuning. - Strong working knowledge of a major hyperscaler such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including managed services. - Hands-on experience with GitOps methodologies and the tooling that supports them, alongside infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines. - Background in DevOps or platform engineering practices, with an operational mindset and willingness to participate in on-call rotations. - Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate across cross-functional teams. - Direct experience in the betting and gaming industry. - For lead applicants: a track record mentoring engineers, managing stakeholders, and communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

- Familiarity with managed Kubernetes offerings such as Amazon EKS, and tools like Flux, Argo CD, Helm, and Kustomize. - Exposure to managed data and messaging platforms such as RDS or Kafka. - Knowledge of application runtimes built with Java, Kotlin, Python, or comparable languages. - Experience implementing cloud security controls, governance, and compliance requirements. - Familiarity with site reliability engineering practices and platform engineering frameworks.
