Job details
About this role
Role overview Lead a small engineering team responsible for finance systems and internal tools used by Operations and Finance. You’ll shape the team, partner with product and business leaders on priorities, and guide delivery while staying involved in technical decisions and some hands-on work.
Responsibilities - Coach and develop engineers through regular one-to-ones, clear feedback, and growth plans; address performance concerns promptly. - Own roadmap delivery and keep progress, risks, and blockers visible. - Set quarterly goals and priorities with Product, Operations, and Finance, including deciding what the team will defer. - Run planning, refinement, and retrospectives, and coordinate with other teams. - Maintain strong practices for code review, testing, monitoring, security, and incident follow-up. - Hire engineers and encourage effective use of AI development tools.
Requirements - At least five years of software engineering experience, including one to two years managing direct reports. - Experience setting performance expectations, giving difficult feedback, and supporting struggling team members. - Able to adapt between coaching and more directive leadership, and to explain decisions to senior stakeholders. - Experience delivering B2B web products end to end with non-technical partners. - Hands-on familiarity with a modern web stack and willingness to learn unfamiliar tools; examples in the source include PHP, Node.js, React, and MySQL. - Regular use of AI tools in development and clear written and spoken English.
Nice to have - Experience with finance, billing, invoicing, tax, order-to-cash, or accounting and ERP integrations. - Familiarity with admin-panel frameworks or replacing low-code internal tools. - Experience building LLM features or AI agents for internal operations, or working in a B2B SaaS, logistics, or operations scale-up.
Benefits and work setup - Hybrid work in the Netherlands, with two to three office days weekly; remote work elsewhere in EMEA with CET overlap and occasional office visits. - Equipment, pension, and fitness membership, plus team events, lunches, and opportunities to grow.
