About this role

Role overview

An Applied AI Engineering position focused on designing and shipping production AI systems that improve productivity across engineering, sales, support, and operations. The role also involves creating tools that customers use directly, blending internal leverage with customer-facing product work. It is a high-ownership, zero-to-one opportunity with company-wide visibility, ideal for someone who thrives on rapid iteration from idea through prototype to production.

Responsibilities

- Design and ship customer-facing AI products, including support assistants embedded in chat channels and new surfaces not yet built - Build internal tools that become part of daily workflows, such as agents, automations, and reliable, observable systems - Tackle ambitious bets like a unified bot framework, a sandboxed coding harness, and shared AI platforms that scale company-wide - Apply LLMs, embeddings, retrieval, and tool-calling to integrate documentation, messaging, code repositories, CRM, analytics, and support systems - Replace repetitive, multi-step manual processes with orchestrated AI workflows that span multiple apps and data sources - Track emerging models and tooling, run focused experiments, and help the team converge on patterns and infrastructure that compound over time

Requirements

- Track record of taking AI-powered systems from idea to production and iterating with real users - Strong engineering fundamentals with comfort around owning services, data flows, and integrations end-to-end - Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs - Thoughtful approach to failure modes, observability, and ownership beyond just making demos work - Bias toward action, with a focus on removing bottlenecks, saving hours, and unlocking new workflows - Comfort with ambiguity and rapid change, including evolving tools, problems, and best practices

Nice to have

- Prior work on customer-facing AI products - Experience with embeddings, retrieval or RAG architectures, and structured tool-calling or agents - Exposure to protocols for connecting AI agents to real systems

Benefits and work setup

- Fully remote working arrangements with a focus on personal and familial well-being - Healthcare coverage for employees and their families, including medical, dental, and vision - 401k matching and competitive equity - Twenty days of paid vacation plus ten holidays and unlimited sick leave - Twelve weeks of fully paid parental leave - Monthly stipends for fitness and wellness activities - FSA, short- and long-term disability, voluntary life insurance, and fertility benefits - Commuter benefits available for hybrid employees in major US metro areas - Unlimited token usage for model experimentation
