Job details
About this role
Role overview This role monitors and improves the technical and commercial performance of a distributed portfolio of battery energy storage and solar-plus-storage assets in the United States. You’ll combine battery performance modeling, power systems knowledge, and data analysis to identify issues, forecast degradation, and recommend operational improvements. The work spans standalone storage and AC- or DC-coupled solar configurations, in close partnership with engineering, data, asset management, and operations teams.
Responsibilities - Monitor asset performance and report on key measures such as round-trip efficiency, state of health, state of charge, auxiliary consumption, and availability. - Build degradation and predictive models to forecast battery life, track capacity guarantees, and inform charging and discharging strategies. - Analyze SCADA, DAS, telemetry, and event data to identify underperformance, diagnose failures, and recommend corrective action. - Help integrate telemetry into data platforms and improve warehousing and automated reporting workflows. - Assess the operational effects of AC- and DC-coupled solar-plus-storage configurations. - Present technical and financial findings to varied audiences and recommend performance or dispatch improvements.
Requirements - Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, or a related technical field. - Three to five years of experience in performance engineering, battery modeling, energy storage analytics, or a related area. - Understanding of battery systems, battery degradation, and performance modeling, plus experience with AC and DC power systems. - Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL for analysis, time-series data, and modeling. - Hands-on experience with operational datasets such as SCADA, DAS, or telemetry, and analytical tools such as Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Power BI, or Tableau. - Strong analytical communication, cross-functional collaboration, and ability to use generative AI tools to support coding and analytical workflows.
Nice to have - Experience with renewable energy assets, wholesale electricity markets, dispatch strategies, energy arbitrage, or solar-plus-storage projects. - Familiarity with plant monitoring platforms, cloud data infrastructure, predictive analytics, or computerized maintenance systems. - Experience working with asset management, engineering, data science, and operations teams in renewable energy.
Benefits and work setup The role offers professional development, a flexible and collaborative culture, and opportunities to work across a global community. Total rewards vary by location and employment type.
