CRDT Software Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview A senior or staff-level engineering role on a distributed AI infrastructure team, with a specific focus on CRDTs (conflict-free replicated data types). The work centers on synchronization, networking, and storage primitives that let large AI models run reliably on edge devices and in isolated, connectivity-limited environments.
Responsibilities - Design and implement synchronization and networking systems spanning edge devices and air-gapped cloud systems. - Architect data sync frameworks using content-addressable storage, Merkle trees, and CRDTs. - Lead performance tuning and debugging under resource-constrained and intermittently connected conditions. - Apply security-first design through threat modeling, secure key management, and cryptographic primitives. - Collaborate with MLOps, Infrastructure, and Security teams on deployment in restricted environments. - Contribute to cross-functional architecture documentation and uphold rigorous testing, observability, and validation practices.
Requirements - 5–10+ years of experience with backend systems languages such as C++, C, Go, or Rust. - Hands-on experience with peer-to-peer or decentralized networking frameworks. - Working knowledge of CRDTs and related concepts. - Comfort developing in Rust, or a willingness to ramp up while working on these systems.
Nice to have - Familiarity with systems resembling IPFS or torrent-style content distribution. - Exposure to distributed hash tables, content identifiers, gossip protocols, DAGs, overlay networks, or NAT traversal.
Benefits and work setup - Competitive salary. - Health, dental, and vision benefits. - 401(k) match. - $200/month health and wellness stipend, plus a $500/year health subscription benefit. - Continuing education support. - Flexible Time Off and parental leave for eligible employees. - Free parking for in-office employees and supplemental life insurance.
