Role overview
A leadership-track program manager role sits inside the software quality and operations group of an autonomous driving organization, owning tooling and integrations that enable safe, scalable deployment of self-driving technology. The position drives large strategic technical programs that accelerate launch velocity for new products and automation, while mentoring a high-performing team of technical specialists and program managers.
Responsibilities
- Drive outcomes for large strategic technical programs spanning multiple engineering and operational organizations, setting short- and long-term priorities and delivering against project goals and OKRs. - Lead transformative improvements in integrations, tooling health, and access management through standardization, simplification, and automation, including building internal tools and dashboards that surface program health and efficiency. - Manage cross-project technical and operational dependencies and run launch review processes for major product, pipeline, and policy updates. - Support technical decision-making by interpreting data and trade-offs, weighing long-term vision against operational realities. - Serve as the principal connector between engineering development and operational integration, proactively identifying solutions to complex operational risks. - Mentor technical specialists and program managers, fostering a quality-first culture in a high-velocity environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent practical experience. - 10+ years of experience managing complex technical programs or tech-enabled operations across cross-functional partners. - 5+ years of people management experience. - Ability to translate operational constraints into technical requirements, quickly master new tools, and resolve technical roadblocks. - Proficiency in SQL and dashboarding tools such as Looker, with the ability to navigate complex database schemas. - Comfort thriving in a high-ambiguity, dynamic environment.
Nice to have
- Experience with fast-paced emerging technologies, particularly autonomous vehicles, AI, or data operations. - Strong consulting and analytical skills with systems-thinking capability. - Experience establishing standardized governance, processes, and tools for a PMO or Center of Excellence. - Familiarity with phases of the machine learning development lifecycle. - Lean or Six Sigma process improvement experience. - Experience leading distributed teams across multiple geographies.
