About this role

Role overview An engineering leadership role focused on shaping technical standards and driving strategic community engagement across open hardware and compiler ecosystems. The position centers on influencing working groups, coordinating sustained upstream contributions, and representing the organization at major industry conferences where decisions on extensions, profiles, and frameworks are made. The work carries a public-facing mandate at the intersection of compilers, ISA design, AI infrastructure, and HPC.

Responsibilities - Drive participation in RISC-V International working groups on architecture review, extension proposals, and profile development, with particular focus on AI and HPC extensions. - Coordinate upstream engagement across compiler projects, the Linux kernel, DPDK, and AI/HPC framework communities in a strategic and sustained way. - Represent the organization at industry conferences, technical summits, and partner reviews. - Build coalitions, write effective RFCs and proposals, and push technical positions through objections. - Mentor engineering contributors on community best practices and effective upstream collaboration.

Requirements - Technical depth in compilers, ISA design, or systems programming sufficient to argue extension encodings in working groups. - Proven experience contributing to major open-source projects such as GCC, LLVM, MLIR, or the Linux kernel. - Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to make complex technical arguments accessible. - Strategic perspective on community positioning, treating upstream contributions as long-term investments. - Existing relationships in the RISC-V ecosystem, compiler communities, HPC consortia, or AI infrastructure projects.

Nice to have - Named contributor status on a ratified RISC-V extension or profile. - Maintainer or reviewer status in a major open-source project. - Conference speaking track record at events such as RISC-V Summit, Plumbers, EuroLLVM, SC, or ISC. - Connections spanning both AI and HPC communities.

Benefits and work setup - Remote, full-time position.
