Role overview
Set the technical architecture and long-term direction of an organization’s Workday environment across HCM, payroll, and related systems. You’ll translate business needs into a secure, maintainable configuration and integration landscape, lead major system changes, and serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues. The position is remote within the United States, with occasional annual travel of approximately 5–10%.
Responsibilities
- Govern Workday architecture, including business processes, security, tenant configuration, and integrations. - Lead implementations, major upgrades, tenant consolidations, and integrations related to organizational changes. - Set integration strategy for payroll, benefits, time, finance, and other downstream systems using Workday integration tools and services. - Establish configuration standards and review proposed changes for downstream effects. - Assess twice-yearly releases and advise on adopting new features; maintain data integrity, security, and audit readiness. - Mentor administrators and analysts, resolve escalated issues, and coordinate with implementation and support partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, information systems, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience. - At least 7 years of Workday experience, including 3 years in architecture or technical design leadership. - Deep experience with multiple Workday modules; HCM is required. - Hands-on knowledge of Workday integration tools such as Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, RaaS, or Workday web services. - Strong understanding of security groups, business process configuration, and calculated fields. - Experience leading full lifecycle implementations or major tenant transformations, and communicating technical topics to nontechnical leaders.
Nice to have
Workday Integrations certification is preferred; Workday Pro certification is a plus. Experience with Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Time Tracking, or Projects is also preferred.
Benefits and work setup
The listed U.S. base salary range is $140,000–$190,000, depending on experience, skills, and location.
