Role overview
A senior individual-contributor and people-lead role inside a Modeling, Simulation, and Algorithm Design (MSAD) group supporting propulsion and aerospace programs. The position pairs high-fidelity technical work in modeling and controls with team-lead responsibilities, reporting to the Director of Engineering. The role is hybrid or remote from listed U.S. locations.
Responsibilities
- Build high-fidelity models and control algorithms for propulsion, flight control, and guidance subsystems - Design system simulation architectures supporting design iteration, verification, and validation - Lead controllability studies, define control topologies, and contribute to gain-tuning methods across architectures - Run performance engineering activities including requirement derivation, margin analysis, trade studies, Monte Carlo, and sensitivity analyses - Apply physics-based modeling across mechanical, thermal, aerodynamic, ballistics, propulsion, and actuation domains - Collaborate with multidisciplinary GNC, software, systems, and test teams; participate in customer engagements and technical reviews - Author and review technical documentation; ensure simulation models meet verification, validation, traceability, and configuration requirements - Mentor engineers and lead peer reviews across modeling and controls work
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering, or a closely related discipline; equivalent experience may substitute - 10 years of modeling, simulation, and algorithm design experience - Demonstrated depth in systems engineering, M&S, or control systems - Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills in multidisciplinary settings - Prior experience leading and developing small technical teams - MATLAB and Simulink (or similar tool) proficiency - Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. Person status required for export-control compliance - Approximately 10% travel
