Senior Engineering Manager – AI & ML

Role overview Lead the technical direction and delivery of machine-learning and AI agent systems, spanning the platform foundations that help teams work reliably and user-facing capabilities built on models. The position combines engineering leadership with hands-on architectural judgment and collaboration with company leadership and customers.

Responsibilities - Own production ML systems end to end, from architecture through delivery and operation. - Guide development of AI and agent capabilities, including client-facing features. - Manage and develop a team of roughly five to ten engineers and AI/ML practitioners, including hiring, coaching, and performance management. - Set scalable design direction for Python-based ML systems and agent workflows. - Work across cloud backend engineering and CI/CD practices. - Plan and steer initiatives that may span multiple quarters, while engaging with leadership and customers.

Requirements - Demonstrated ownership of production machine-learning systems across their lifecycle. - Previous management experience leading a team of five to ten engineers or AI/ML developers. - Strong architectural judgment for Python ML systems and agent interaction patterns. - Hands-on cloud backend engineering experience and understanding of CI/CD. - An advanced relevant degree or equivalent professional experience. - Commitment to continued learning and to supporting team growth while maintaining high standards.

Nice to have - Experience using large language models to build AI or agent-based experiences. - Interest in applying AI to practical challenges in water infrastructure and public services.
