Staff Software Engineer, Program Structure & Trust
Job details
About this role
Role overview A staff-level engineering role focused on owning the architectural foundation of a compliance and security platform's enterprise organization model. The work centers on designing how complex organizational structures—product lines, business units, isolated data environments, cross-cutting audits, and regional data residency needs—are absorbed natively rather than handled as one-off accommodations. This is a multi-quarter, defining technical initiative that determines whether the platform can serve its largest, most structurally diverse customers.
Responsibilities - Lead the end-to-end design and phased delivery of an enterprise organizational model, including hierarchical product lines and business units, isolated data access and ownership, scoped approvals, and regional data residency support - Define and evolve core abstractions that let the platform absorb structurally diverse, often conflicting customer requirements into general-purpose capabilities - Retrofit a live production system toward a multi-tenant org structure, designing safe migration paths, sequencing delivery incrementally, and preserving continuity for existing customers - Ship meaningful customer value each quarter while progressing toward the full architectural solution - Drive alignment across squads outside the direct area through technical clarity and credibility, and partner with engineering leadership, product, and design to translate long-term vision into phased, deliverable work - Set the technical standard for the group and define the patterns other teams build to
Requirements - 10+ years of deep backend engineering experience with a track record of leading complex, multi-quarter initiatives in fast-paced, product-focused environments - Proven history designing platform abstractions that absorb messy, conflicting enterprise requirements for the general case rather than the loudest customer request - Track record of shipping large, structurally complex problems incrementally, with each phase standing on its own - Demonstrated ability to operate effectively across teams without direct ownership, building alignment through technical credibility rather than authority - Deep familiarity with enterprise architectural patterns: tenancy models, role-based access control, data isolation, scoped permissions, cross-tenant operations, and access boundary design - Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging engineering leadership, product partners, and customer-facing stakeholders
Nice to have - Data residency or GovCloud exposure, with willingness to ramp quickly once core structural problems are in hand - Curiosity about using AI tools responsibly to amplify engineering productivity and impact
Benefits and work setup - Industry-competitive salary and equity - 100% covered medical, dental, and vision benefits including dependents - Pension contribution - 16 weeks of paid parental leave for all new parents - Health and wellness stipend - Remote workspace, internet, and cellphone stipend - Flexible work hours and location - Generous paid time off plus sick leave and company-paid holidays - Virtual team building activities and company-wide learning sessions - Physical offices in several major global cities - Remote-friendly hiring
