Remote job
Staff Software Engineer, Program Structure & Trust
Job details
About this role
Role overview
This is a defining technical role for a newly chartered group building the enterprise organizational model for a trust and compliance platform. The Staff Engineer owns the architectural foundation that lets large customers bring complex structures—product lines, business units, isolated data environments, cross-cutting audits, scoped approvals, and data residency requirements—into the platform natively.
Responsibilities
- Own the design and multi-quarter delivery of an enterprise org model, including hierarchical product lines and business units, isolated data access, cross-cutting audit workflows, scoped approvals, and EU and GovCloud data residency support. - Define and evolve core platform abstractions that absorb diverse, often conflicting enterprise requirements rather than accommodating one-off customer requests. - Retrofit a live production system toward a multi-tenant org structure by designing safe migration paths, sequencing delivery incrementally, and preserving continuity for existing customers. - Ship meaningful customer value each quarter while progressing toward the full solution, drawing clean increment lines through a complex problem space. - Drive execution across squads outside your direct area, building alignment through technical clarity and credibility, and partner with Engineering leadership, Product, and Design on phased delivery.
Requirements
- 10+ years of deep backend engineering experience leading complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives in fast-paced, product-focused environments. - Track record of designing platform abstractions that absorbed messy, conflicting enterprise requirements across a diverse customer base. - History of shipping in stages, moving large structurally complex problems forward incrementally without overreaching what customers and the product can absorb. - Deep familiarity with enterprise architectural patterns: tenancy models, role-based access control, data isolation, scoped permissions, cross-tenant operations, and access boundary design. - Strong communication skills for making complex systems legible to engineering leadership, product partners, and customer-facing stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Data residency or GovCloud exposure.
Benefits and work setup
- Industry-competitive salary and equity. - Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with most employee-only premiums covered; 16 weeks paid parental leave for all new parents. - Health and wellness stipend, remote workspace and internet stipend, cellphone stipend, commuter benefits, and family planning support. - 401(k) match with immediate vesting, flexible PTO plus 80 hours of sick time, and 11 company-paid holidays. - Annual learning and development stipend and virtual team-building activities.
