ML Team Lead

Role overview Lead an applied machine learning team building speech systems for multilingual, accented, and variable-quality audio. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: set model direction, guide the team, and take improvements from experiments into production, with attention to quality, speed, resilience, and cost.

Responsibilities - Set technical direction for speech and ML development across languages and accents. - Lead, mentor, and grow a team of ML engineers and interns, while encouraging increasing ownership. - Establish evaluation standards, experiment practices, benchmarks, and documentation. - Guide work from experiments through production integration, collaborating with engineering. - Investigate recurring weaknesses across languages and audio conditions, and drive fixes. - Communicate risks and findings clearly, and connect business needs to ML priorities and outcomes.

Requirements - At least four years of applied ML or speech engineering experience, including one to two years leading a team. - Strong Python and PyTorch foundations, with deep knowledge of ASR, speech processing, and evaluation. - Experience deploying ML models in production and understanding GPU inference, optimization, and production constraints. - Ability to define and uphold evaluation standards across a team. - Clear communication across research, engineering, and business audiences. - A hands-on leadership style, sound judgment amid uncertainty, and willingness to investigate difficult data and production failures.

Nice to have - Experience with multilingual or low-resource speech, particularly languages of Southeast Asia. - Exposure to on-device or low-latency inference. - Experience creating evaluation pipelines or annotation workflows. - Background in code-switching, accent robustness, or noisy audio.
