About this role
Role overview
Combine architecture, hands-on software engineering, AI implementation, and technical leadership across complex project work. Depending on the engagement, you may shape a system design, build production code, guide engineering decisions, or implement AI workflows, with scope that can shift as project needs evolve.
Responsibilities
- Design scalable, maintainable systems and work with clients to understand requirements, constraints, and suitable technology choices. - Turn architecture decisions into production-ready implementations when needed. - Build AI-powered features such as LLM integrations, retrieval-augmented generation, agents, embeddings, and retrieval pipelines. - Improve AI and machine-learning pipelines, including automation, deployment, and infrastructure considerations. - Lead technical discussions and code reviews, investigate difficult engineering issues, and document reusable patterns and standards. - Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
Requirements
- At least seven years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial involvement in architecture decisions. - At least four years contributing to or leading software architecture work. - Strong hands-on TypeScript skills and production experience with another language such as Python, Go, or Rust. - Production experience building and deploying LLM or RAG systems, including retrieval, embeddings, agents, and LLM APIs. - Experience with AI/ML operational workflows, such as pipelines, automation, deployment, or infrastructure as code. - Ability to move between system design, implementation, technical leadership, and troubleshooting.
Nice to have
- Experience with the Claude API, Next.js, FastAPI, Go microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, serverless systems, or cloud infrastructure. - Experience designing agent-based AI workflows and mentoring teams through architecture decisions.
Benefits and work setup
- The engagement may begin on a flexible or project basis, with the possibility of expanding into full-time work as demand changes.
