Full-Stack Software Engineer (Node.js & React)

Role overview

Build and maintain full-stack applications across Node.js backends and React frontends. The work combines API and service development, GraphQL design, SQL-backed features, and component-based user interfaces, with room to contribute from rough requirements through delivery on varied client and product projects.

Responsibilities

- Develop backend services with Node.js, Apollo Server, GraphQL, and service-oriented or microservice patterns. - Build React and TypeScript interfaces using reusable components, sound HTML and CSS layouts, and utility-based styling where appropriate. - Design GraphQL schemas, inputs, and validation while keeping frontend and backend behavior aligned. - Estimate work, communicate deadlines and risks, make practical product decisions, and deliver with limited supervision. - Contribute to projects from early or incomplete specifications, using critical thinking to clarify and implement the intended outcome. - Collaborate on larger projects, sharing solutions and lessons across different engagements.

Requirements

- Production experience developing both React/TypeScript frontends and Node.js backends. - At least 5 years of frontend experience with React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and user-interface implementation. - Familiarity with SQL and backend API development, including Apollo Server or comparable GraphQL tooling. - Understanding of components, HTML, CSS layouts, and frontend styling approaches such as Tailwind or Tachyons. - Strong communication, estimation, self-direction, and follow-through. - Availability for at least four hours of overlap with the 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. US Mountain time window.

Nice to have

- Experience with Java or TypeScript on the backend, Nest.js, TypeORM, Prisma, Remix, Next.js, or similar frameworks. - Mobile development with React Native, Kotlin, or Swift; production Vue.js or Shopify experience. - Cloud deployment experience with DigitalOcean, AWS, Vercel, or Heroku. - Freelance delivery experience, including estimates, budgets, and work with non-technical clients.
