Backend Engineer

Role overview Build and operate the distributed services that power a workflow automation platform, working across API endpoints, orchestration engines, and multi-tenant infrastructure. The work centers on designing server-side systems that handle high-concurrency execution, dependable scheduling, and secure isolation between customers.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and operate backend services that run multi-step workflows and batch jobs with second-level scheduling granularity. - Develop and maintain API endpoints, including fan-out patterns for REST and GraphQL traffic with unified response handling. - Model data and tune performance for production systems that must scale to support many concurrent tenants. - Apply security, tenancy isolation, and access controls throughout the service stack. - Debug production incidents, lead root-cause analysis, and own follow-through to resolution.

Requirements - Several years of strong backend engineering experience with a modern server-side language and framework. - Practical experience building or operating distributed systems in production. - Fluency in API design, data modeling, and performance optimization. - A debugging and incident-response mindset with a sense of ownership for outcomes. - Clear written and verbal communication suited to a remote environment.

Nice to have - Familiarity with orchestration engines, schedulers, stream processing, or workflow systems. - Hands-on experience with cloud-native infrastructure and containerized deployments. - Exposure to event-driven architecture and high-concurrency systems.
