Backend Engineer

Role overview A workflow orchestration platform is looking for a Backend Engineer to help build and scale its distributed systems infrastructure. The role involves designing APIs, optimizing performance, and supporting multi-tenant, security-conscious services that run automated workflows at scale. The work is remote and emphasizes ownership, debugging rigor, and collaboration across the engineering team.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and operate backend services that support high-scale workflow orchestration - Develop APIs and data models that balance performance, clarity, and extensibility - Contribute to architectural decisions around scalability, multi-tenancy, and security controls - Debug production issues and lead incident response with a focus on root-cause resolution - Collaborate with frontend, product, and infrastructure teammates in a remote environment - Maintain code quality through reviews, testing, and iterative refinement

Requirements - Strong experience with modern server-side languages and frameworks - Practical background building or operating distributed systems in production - Fluency in API design, data modeling, and performance tuning - Debugging and incident-response mindset with clear ownership of outcomes - Effective written and verbal collaboration within a remote setting
