About this role
Role overview
Design, build, and scale backend services for a platform that processes large volumes of geospatial and time-series data collected across road networks. You will own work from technical design through production, helping keep services reliable, maintainable, and ready to grow.
Responsibilities - Develop backend services for storing, processing, and presenting geospatial and time-series data. - Design APIs, database schemas, security controls, logging, monitoring, and scaling approaches. - Turn high-level specifications into production-ready features and services. - Build and maintain distributed systems using asynchronous processing, caching, queues, and service-to-service communication. - Use AI-assisted coding and agent workflows to speed up development while applying sound engineering judgment. - Contribute to testing, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements - Five or more years of backend development experience, or equivalent depth, building production services with Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS. - Solid understanding of REST APIs and GraphQL. - Hands-on experience with geospatial and time-series data, including tools or databases such as PostGIS. - Experience with serverless computing or infrastructure as code, using tools such as CloudFormation, Docker, or the Serverless Framework. - Ability to design and reason about distributed systems, including asynchronous work, caching, queues, and service communication. - Strong code-quality practices, including unit and integration testing.
Nice to have - Experience with high-performance relational, analytical, or NoSQL databases; messaging systems such as SQS, SNS, or Kafka; observability tools; or CI/CD and production deployment workflows.
Benefits and work setup - Flexible hours and a hybrid arrangement combining remote work with an office in Stockholm. - Occupational pension and an annual wellness allowance of up to SEK 5,000. - Small, international team with knowledge-sharing sessions and regular team gatherings. - Application materials are requested in English.
