Role overview A senior Middleware Administrator role responsible for the administration, configuration, maintenance, security remediation, compliance management, automation, and operational support of enterprise middleware platforms. The focus is on maintaining highly available, secure, and compliant environments while using automation to reduce manual effort and improve consistency across services.
Responsibilities - Manage and support IBM WebSphere, IBM HTTP Server, Oracle WebLogic, Apache, Tomcat, IIS, and WebSphere Portal environments across Linux and Windows servers. - Perform security remediation, vulnerability management, patching, upgrades, and compliance validation, and manage SSL/TLS certificates, keystores, truststores, LDAP, Kerberos, Active Directory integration, SSO, and LTPA security. - Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions for middleware administration, patching, compliance validation, certificate management, deployments, and system health checks. - Develop and maintain Shell, Python, and JACL scripts, and support CI/CD deployment processes and enterprise automation tools where applicable. - Conduct middleware performance monitoring, JVM tuning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis. - Execute change management, incident management, and service restoration activities, and maintain documentation, procedures, audit evidence, and compliance records.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, plus six or more years of middleware administration experience supporting enterprise WebSphere and WebLogic environments. - Demonstrated experience in security remediation, vulnerability management, and audit compliance. - Proficiency with WebSphere Application Server, IBM HTTP Server, WebLogic, Apache, Tomcat, IIS, and WebSphere Portal, along with Linux (RHEL, SUSE, AIX, Solaris) and Windows Server administration. - Strong scripting skills in Shell, Python, JACL, XML, HTML, Awk, Sed, and Curl, with experience in automation, REST API integration, task scheduling, and operational scripting. - Working knowledge of IBM DB2 and Oracle databases, JVM tuning, monitoring, and performance analysis. - Strong documentation and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in production support environments.
Nice to have - WebSphere Liberty experience, or administration experience with Kafka, Zookeeper, Artifactory, WordPress, ServiceNow, or Remedy. - Familiarity with Ansible, Jenkins, Git, GitLab CI/CD, or similar automation tools. - Prior experience supporting security audits and compliance frameworks.
