About this role
Role overview This Staff Mobile Engineer role focuses on scaling core identity and fraud prevention products through mobile SDKs, bringing capabilities to a much larger customer base while operating with startup speed and ownership. You will go deep on device internals to power complex signal collection, ship new SDK surfaces for authentication and emerging agentic identity use cases, and partner with product and engineering leadership on high-impact roadmap features. The position offers a rare chance to operate in a high-ownership environment backed by significant company reach and scale.
Responsibilities - Build and own mobile SDKs for identity and fraud detection platforms, going deep on device internals for complex signal collection and shipping new SDK surfaces that power core authentication flows - Partner with product and engineering leadership to set direction, translate customer needs into product capabilities, and deliver high-impact roadmap features - Collaborate across multiple teams to align on architecture, integrate platform capabilities, and unblock cross-team initiatives - Operate with deep technical ownership by authoring design docs, driving key technical decisions, reviewing code, and staying close to the systems you ship - Break down complex problems in ambiguous situations, make pragmatic tradeoffs, and design developer experiences that delight customers - Improve production quality and resilience through strong observability, incident response, and remediation - Mentor and support other engineers through pairing, feedback, and knowledge-sharing
Requirements - 6+ years of professional mobile engineering experience designing, building, and maintaining mobile applications - Android development experience, fluent in Kotlin or Java - Deep expertise in mobile development ecosystems, frameworks, and third-party libraries - Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including monitoring, observability, and building maintainable systems - Experience making high-impact technical decisions and leading technical initiatives - Proven track record of driving technical excellence while keeping customer needs at the center - Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work non-standard, on-call rotation weekend and holiday hours
Nice to have - iOS development experience - Familiarity with Kotlin Multiplatform, C/C++, Swift, or Go - Experience building developer tools or SDKs - Hands-on builder mentality, through hobby or profession
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote within the US or Canada, with occasional in-person team gatherings or off-sites - Estimated pay ranges by location, for example $171,120–$213,900 in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont, or Washington DC; $181,200–$226,500 in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California outside the San Francisco Bay area; and $201,280–$251,600 in the San Francisco Bay area - Eligible for the equity plan and corporate bonus plan - Health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, and paid parental leave - Generous time off, ample parental and wellness leave, and a retirement savings program
