Databricks Developer

Role overview

A federal contractor is hiring a Databricks Developer to support a large-scale data modernization program aimed at retiring legacy processing systems and improving service delivery for taxpayers and stakeholders. The selected engineer will design, build, and deploy cloud-native data applications while helping shape architecture decisions on a high-visibility initiative. The role blends hands-on development with opportunities for technical leadership in a fast-paced, collaborative, agile environment.

Responsibilities

- Gather, assess, and interpret complex data sets to inform design decisions, frequently prototyping candidate solutions during analysis and development - Conduct thorough application tests and code reviews with each build iteration, handling debugging, code improvement, and redesign tasks - Respond promptly to problem reports and code errors, delivering updated software solutions as issues arise - Build, optimize, and operate data-driven applications on modern cloud data platforms - Identify gaps in existing project architecture and propose new software products or patterns to close them - Mentor or supervise a small team of engineers through design, development, and implementation cycles

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree plus 5 or more years of relevant professional experience - U.S. citizenship - Active federal security clearance and current government-issued equipment eligibility - Strong hands-on experience with Databricks and AWS - Demonstrated experience working on agile teams with a solid grasp of agile methodologies - Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging stakeholders at all organizational and technical levels

Nice to have

- Proficiency in Python - Proficiency in SQL - Prior exposure to Palantir - Experience prototyping solutions and running structured code reviews - Background in debugging, testing, and continuous code improvement - Experience leading or supervising engineering teams
