Senior Cloud Database Engineer

Role overview Own the operational health and ongoing improvement of production MySQL databases hosted on AWS RDS. This hands-on senior engineering role combines incident response, automation, safer database workflows, and close partnership with software engineers supporting a distributed SaaS platform.

Responsibilities - Monitor and improve the availability, health, and reliability of production MySQL databases. - Lead response to database incidents, investigate root causes, restore service, and prevent recurring problems. - Identify repetitive operational tasks and build automation to reduce manual work and operational risk. - Improve processes for database changes, production data fixes, and operational requests, with stronger safety and auditability. - Work with software engineers to understand application behavior and investigate production issues. - Communicate progress and operational findings to relevant engineering partners.

Requirements - Strong experience operating production MySQL databases, including AWS RDS. - Ability to troubleshoot unfamiliar production problems and carry investigations through to lasting improvements. - Experience automating database or infrastructure workflows and improving operational processes. - Familiarity with software development lifecycles and effective collaboration with engineering teams. - Clear communication, independent problem solving, and a strong sense of ownership.

Nice to have Experience with Amazon Aurora, MariaDB, Linux production environments, Datadog or similar observability tools, AWS Performance Insights, or software engineering.
