Applied AI Engineer - LLM & NLP

Role overview Build and improve production AI capabilities for speech-to-text, chatbots, summarisation, and language understanding. The role combines hands-on model development and applied research with the practical work of integrating, evaluating, and supporting AI features in live services.

Responsibilities - Train, fine-tune, evaluate, and improve NLP, speech, and large language models used in production. - Develop chatbot, summarisation, and language-understanding capabilities, including retrieval-augmented generation and vector search. - Design benchmarks and evaluations to compare approaches and validate model improvements. - Assess relevant research and emerging techniques, then apply useful findings to production systems. - Integrate models into backend services through Python APIs and collaborate with backend engineers. - Support production readiness and investigate issues involving deployed AI features.

Requirements - Hands-on experience with LLMs, NLP, or speech technologies, including model training, fine-tuning, and evaluation. - Practical Python AI development experience, such as with PyTorch and related tools. - Strong AI and machine learning fundamentals, supported by relevant study or equivalent expertise. - Experience applying research or benchmark findings to practical model improvements. - Experience deploying or supporting models in production, including monitoring and iteration. - Ability to integrate models through Python APIs in a microservices environment, with familiarity with RAG, embeddings, and vector retrieval. - Proactive problem solving and clear collaboration across engineering disciplines.

Nice to have Working knowledge of AWS and AI tooling such as EC2, SageMaker, MLflow, or Docker.
