Staff Software Engineer, Fullstack

Role overview As a Staff Fullstack Software Engineer, you’ll set technical direction for customer-facing growth systems across multiple teams. The work calls for architectural judgment and systems thinking: identifying high-impact opportunities, turning ambiguous problems into plans, and helping teams deliver reliable services at scale.

Responsibilities - Guide the architecture and evolution of growth systems across teams, and propose high-leverage platform or funnel improvements. - Write technical proposals that lay out architecture, options, tradeoffs, and recommendations. - Decide when to use event-driven systems, workflow orchestration, caching, asynchronous pipelines, or separate services; plan migrations where needed. - Work with engineering, product, and data partners to align system boundaries, contracts, and priorities. - Instrument shipped work, use data to assess outcomes, and uphold quality, reliability, observability, and service-level expectations. - Set engineering standards, mentor colleagues, and organize cross-team initiatives through clear ownership and delivery plans.

Requirements - At least 8 years building and operating high-traffic customer-facing systems, including technical leadership across teams. - Strong computer science fundamentals, object-oriented design, relational data modeling, and systems reasoning. - Experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, eventing, workflow orchestration, caching, asynchronous processing, idempotency, and backpressure. - Working knowledge of AWS and the tradeoffs among relational, document, and wide-column databases. - A record of delivering production systems at scale and influencing technical direction through adopted designs, migrations, or standards. - Clear written and visual communication, including architecture diagrams and design proposals, and the ability to build alignment without formal authority.

Nice to have Experience in subscription or membership products, including growth funnels, experimentation, attribution, payments, or recurring billing.

Benefits and work setup The listed base salary range is $160,000–$225,000 per year, with potential variation by location and experience. The current product stack includes PHP/Magento, React/Next, and AWS; the role expects comfort choosing tools across layers.
