Remote job
Staff Full Stack Engineer - Sell Side Engine
Job details
About this role
Role overview A Staff-level Full Stack Engineer position is open on a small Origination & New Products squad within a Sell Side Growth function for a renewable energy transaction platform. The team is rebuilding manual, integration-heavy processes—tendering, contracting, and onboarding—so the generator-facing side of the platform can scale without buckling. This is a deep, hands-on individual-contributor role focused on the hardest technical problems rather than people management.
Responsibilities - Own architecture-level decisions on integration-heavy systems, reasoning clearly about boundaries, contracts, and failure modes. - Translate an ambiguous, commercially-driven problem slice into a shippable plan, within the direction set by the squad lead. - Deliver work where critical dependencies sit with teams outside your authority, ensuring clean integrations with adjacent systems. - Design, build, and ship the hardest parts of the new-product build sequence, working backend-first but comfortable moving into the React/TypeScript front end when it matters. - Write clean, well-tested code, contribute to code reviews, and help improve team practices and documentation.
Requirements - Deep technical depth in backend and systems design, with a track record of owning architecture decisions on complex, integration-heavy systems. - Comfort in Python, AWS serverless (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, EventBridge), and event-driven architectures; React/TypeScript exposure is a plus but not the bar. - Ability to operate without a full spec and turn a defined slice of an ambiguous problem into a shippable plan. - Experience delivering work where a critical dependency sits with a team you have no authority over. - Proven product delivery experience as a Full Stack or Backend Engineer in a startup or fast-paced environment, with end-to-end ownership of complex projects.
Nice to have - Prior experience mentoring engineers or setting technical direction, even without a formal leadership title. - Background in energy, fintech, or another regulated, high-stakes commercial domain. - Exposure to workflow orchestration, event-driven systems, or real-time pricing engines. - Experience originating new product lines from scratch rather than only scaling existing ones.
Benefits and work setup - Salary band of £104,000 or local-currency equivalent, benchmarked without a fixed annual cycle. - Equity in the form of stock options for every team member. - 25 days of holiday plus public holidays, with the option to swap public holidays and an extra day off for your birthday. - Fully remote working with clear core hours and no internal meetings on Friday afternoons. - Annual home-working budget of up to £1,200/€1,200 for equipment or co-working, plus a monthly wellbeing budget of up to £150/€150.
