Remote job
Developer Advocate, Edge & IoT
Job details
About this role
Role overview Create practical demonstrations that show how connected devices, private networking, edge computing, and AI inference can work together. This hands-on developer advocacy role combines device and cloud development, performance research, open-source examples, and technical storytelling to help developers understand real-world edge use cases.
Responsibilities - Design repeatable tests for latency, throughput, reliability, and cost, and publish methods and results others can reproduce. - Build and operate field demonstrations using hardware such as cellular modems, gateways, Raspberry Pi, and ESP32 devices. - Develop sample applications showing edge AI, private connectivity, and deployment options for data residency and privacy needs. - Publish and maintain starter projects and code repositories against current APIs, SDKs, and firmware. - Present demonstrations through videos, livestreams, workshops, meetups, and conferences; turn project work into tutorials with content colleagues. - Test new products and relay developer feedback to product and engineering teams; some domestic or international travel may be needed for field events.
Requirements - Experience in developer relations, solutions engineering, or developer advocacy, supported by a public portfolio of useful demos, applications, or talks. - Strong writing and research skills, plus the ability to produce polished technical videos with capable editing and visual design. - Hands-on programming in C or C++ and Python for devices, and JavaScript or TypeScript, or Go, for cloud and edge applications. - Practical familiarity with cellular or IoT connectivity, such as SIM provisioning, APNs, or LTE-M/NB-IoT. - Experience designing and running benchmarks with careful, transparent methods. - Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including BGP, IPsec, virtual networks, or cloud interconnection; working knowledge of LLM inference patterns. - A technical master’s or doctoral degree, or equivalent experience, and an ability to build and ship working demonstrations with autonomy.
Nice to have - Experience with Raspberry Pi, ESP32, cellular modems, MQTT, or regulated-industry privacy requirements. - Familiarity with search optimization or how AI answer tools select and cite technical content.
