About this role
Role overview
A contract Solutions Engineer position is open on a project basis to help build out identity and trust infrastructure for the open internet, with a particular focus on emerging AI agent technologies. The role blends customer-facing technical consulting with hands-on solution architecture and proof-of-concept development, working alongside customer, product, engineering, and business teams. The work is remote within the United States and centers on translating complex requirements into practical, working solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical customer meetings, discovery calls, workshops, and product demonstrations as the primary technical voice in the room. - Discuss DNS concepts in depth, including resolution, DNSSEC, zone management, and the roles of registries and registrars in establishing identity and trust. - Explain core networking fundamentals to mixed audiences, covering TCP/IP, TLS, HTTP, routing, load balancing, and CDN behavior. - Advise customers on PKI topics such as certificate lifecycle management, certificate authorities, chains of trust, mTLS, and key management. - Guide customers on agentic AI protocols including Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent2Agent (A2A), with attention to agent discovery, identity, authentication, and authorization. - Design and build proofs of concept and prototypes that illustrate how products solve real customer problems. - Translate requirements into solution architectures, integration plans, and technical documentation, and respond to technical questions in RFPs, security reviews, and proposals. - Channel customer feedback into the product and engineering roadmap and create reusable demos, reference architectures, and enablement content.
Requirements
- Five or more years in solutions engineering, sales engineering, technical consulting, or a comparable customer-facing technical role. - Deep, hands-on knowledge of DNS, including DNSSEC, record types, resolvers, and authoritative servers. - Strong grasp of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, TLS, and HTTP/S, plus common network architectures. - Practical PKI experience with X.509 certificates, certificate authorities, certificate lifecycle management, and mTLS. - Working knowledge of agentic AI and LLM integration, including protocols like MCP and A2A and how agents discover, authenticate, and call each other. - Demonstrated ability to build proofs of concept quickly using Python, Go, TypeScript, JavaScript, or similar languages, along with REST APIs. - Experience with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. - Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex topics to both engineers and executives. - Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Background at a domain registry, registrar, DNS provider, certificate authority, or CDN. - Familiarity with identity standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, decentralized identifiers, or verifiable credentials. - Experience building AI agents with frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or the OpenAI or Anthropic SDKs. - Knowledge of internet governance and standards bodies such as the IETF, ICANN, and W3C. - Relevant certifications, including CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, or a cloud architect credential.
