Forward Deployed Engineer / Palantir Foundry Engineer

Role overview

This position focuses on an already-live Palantir Foundry deployment inside an enterprise environment, so the work is evolutionary rather than greenfield. The role blends hands-on data and software engineering with light solution architecture and direct customer collaboration, taking ownership of maintenance, extension, and continuous improvement of an established Foundry stack.

Responsibilities

- Reverse-engineer the current Foundry landscape, including data pipelines, the Ontology, applications, integrations, and external dependencies, before proposing or making changes - Sustain current functionality and add new capabilities as the business evolves, always weighing the impact on production workflows - Build and adjust data pipelines, transformations, datasets, and integrations, including code-based components living in Code Repositories - Work with Ontology building blocks such as Object Types, Link Types, Properties, Actions, and Functions, and extend them as new entities or workflows appear - Develop and refine operational applications in Workshop and related Foundry app tooling, including OSDK-based custom apps when relevant - Diagnose issues that span pipelines, the Ontology, applications, permissions, and integrations, drive them to root cause, and harden reliability, performance, and data quality over time - Partner directly with stakeholders to clarify ambiguous requirements, communicate trade-offs, and turn business needs into well-scoped technical changes - Capture architecture decisions and important implementation choices so future maintainers can onboard quickly

Requirements

- Commercial, hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry, including onboarding into an existing environment without disrupting live workflows - Working knowledge of the Ontology, Object Types and Link Types, Actions and Functions, Pipeline Builder, Workshop, Foundry permissions and access management, APIs, Developer Console, and OSDK - At least 5 years of professional software or data engineering experience with strong Python and SQL skills - Solid data modeling and transformation skills, experience designing or consuming modern APIs, and comfort working with relational databases - Ability to read and modify an unfamiliar production codebase, debug systems with many moving parts, and assess change impact before implementation - Familiarity with CI/CD, cloud or enterprise infrastructure, and the realities of shipping reliable production software - Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical constraints to non-technical audiences and to run technical discovery independently

Nice to have

- Exposure to Palantir AIP, AIP Logic, and AI-enabled Foundry applications - React and TypeScript experience for OSDK-based custom application development - Advanced Python data engineering work in large-scale enterprise environments - Familiarity with data governance and access-control models - Prior experience inheriting an existing Palantir implementation from another team, or prior Forward Deployed Engineer, Solution Engineer, or Solutions Architect roles
