About this role
Role overview
Build and evolve software that helps businesses move money through payment providers and programmable settlement infrastructure. In a small, remote engineering team, you’ll own work across APIs, merchant-facing products, and internal systems, taking ideas from prototype to production and working directly with clients on integrations.
Responsibilities
- Design and integrate payment providers into a shared infrastructure. - Build and extend the core API used by client applications. - Deliver tools for merchants and internal operational systems. - Prototype and implement features across the stack, from initial design through production release. - Work with clients on integrations and develop agents or internal tools that make launches more efficient. - Improve API documentation and developer tools so merchants can integrate with less assistance. - Help launch additional payment rails while keeping the system consistent and reliable.
Requirements
- Production experience building across backend and frontend systems. - Strong API design and architectural judgment. - Solid engineering fundamentals in performance, reliability, and security. - Comfort working independently in a small team and navigating ambiguity. - Ability to use AI coding agents to coordinate a development cycle, with thoughtful review of their output.
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, payments, or blockchain infrastructure. - Familiarity with payment integrations such as SEPA, ACH, card processing, or regional payment rails. - Experience with Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, React, Next.js, or TypeScript. The described infrastructure also includes Azure, Vercel, Supabase, and GitHub Actions.
Benefits and work setup
- Fully remote role with competitive salary and stock options. - Work in a small team where engineers take features from hypothesis and prototype through production.
