Software Engineer - Turso

Role overview Help develop an open-source database designed as a SQLite alternative, with work focused particularly on compatibility with the Postgres interface. You’ll also help maintain and scale the hosted database service, improving its control and data-plane operations as customers create databases at much greater volume.

Responsibilities - Advance the open-source database and its Postgres compatibility layer. - Build and maintain safeguards that help prevent regressions and make changes dependable. - Operate and improve the hosted service’s API and data plane. - Increase service capacity to support a substantially larger number of databases. - Work with customers and distributed colleagues to solve practical developer problems and shape database tools for applications using agents.

Requirements - Comfortable developing in Rust and working with embedded databases. - Experience building databases or other low-level, high-consequence systems such as operating systems, hypervisors, or storage software. - Background operating and debugging production software in cloud environments, including AWS or Kubernetes. - Ability to improve reliability, performance, and observability in complex services. - Experience with rigorous correctness techniques such as fuzzing, differential testing, deterministic simulation, or formal methods. - Clear communication across technical and nontechnical audiences, and comfort working with open-source communities and remote teams. - Familiarity with AI-assisted software development and evaluation.
