About this role

Role overview

Own the developer workflow that moves a change from a local machine to production. The scope covers command-line development, migrations and seed data, configuration as code, isolated environments for pull requests, code-hosting integrations, testing, and production promotion. You will make this path coherent for individual developers, teams, enterprises, and increasingly autonomous agents that create environments and run migrations at high speed.

Responsibilities

- Research needs across individual developers, startups, large platform customers, and enterprise teams with formal development-to-production processes. - Define how local tooling, migrations, seed data, configuration, isolated branches, and source-control integrations work together as one workflow. - Set launch metrics and thresholds, such as time to first migration, environment adoption, and the share of teams using reviewed deployment paths. - Own the business case and technical constraints behind roadmap decisions, including provisioning latency, compute capacity, environment cost, and data volume. - Decide what to build, defer, or remove while balancing local development experience, collaboration, testing, and production safety. - Keep product, engineering, design, and leadership aligned through written requirements, sequencing, and measurable outcomes.

Requirements

- Product management experience with developer tools or workflow products, or equivalent technical leadership in this area. - Technical fluency to follow architecture discussions, inspect implementation details, and form requirements from how systems actually behave. - Experience shipping at least one of: local development tooling, migrations, CI/CD, ephemeral or preview environments, or source-control-integrated deployments. - Understanding of tradeoffs such as command-line versus dashboard experiences, schema-only versus data-bearing environments, cloning versus restore workflows, and configuration complexity. - A bias toward incremental delivery, early measurement, and careful releases that do not create avoidable support burden. - Comfort working remotely and asynchronously, using AI tools for routine work while focusing personal effort on judgment and prioritization.

Nice to have

- Familiarity with the PostgreSQL ecosystem, migrations, extensions, and developer tooling. - Hands-on use of the complete workflow, from local project setup and version-controlled migrations to pull-request environments and production promotion. - Experience designing workflows for automated agents or other systems that create and modify environments programmatically.

Benefits and work setup

Fully remote and globally distributed, with flexible asynchronous work. The package includes equity ownership, a technology allowance, coworking support, health coverage, annual company gatherings, and an annual professional-development allowance.
