Platform Engineer, Managed Postgres

Role overview Design, build, and operate platform services that support a large-scale managed database offering. The role focuses on distributed systems and reliable backend infrastructure, with work spanning service design, data-intensive processing, production operations, and delivery in partnership with product teams.

Responsibilities - Develop distributed services and APIs, and lead improvements to platform scale, reliability, and operating cost. - Build data-heavy workflows, background processing, and event-driven pipelines. - Set and own service reliability targets; take part in incident response and follow-up reviews. - Improve observability through metrics, logs, traces, and profiling. - Contribute to CI/CD and release processes, and deliver features from technical design through production. - Write design documents and technical proposals, along with high-quality tests.

Requirements - Experience designing and operating distributed systems, including consistency, fault tolerance, partitioning, consensus, and back pressure. - Proficiency in TypeScript and/or Go; around five or more years building production services is preferred, though other languages may be considered. - Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, and container orchestration. - Knowledge of multi-tenant systems, API design, data modelling, networking, and security practices. - Experience with infrastructure as code, such as Pulumi, Terraform, or CDK. - Willingness to join on-call rotations for production systems.

Nice to have - Experience with Postgres internals, logical replication, or change-data-capture pipelines. - Familiarity with service meshes, workload identity, or zero-trust networking. - Skills in performance engineering or capacity planning. - Contributions to open-source systems, databases, or runtime tools.
