Job details
About this role
Role overview
This position supports developers using a Postgres-based backend platform that bundles database, authentication, storage, edge functions, realtime, and vector capabilities. The role focuses on resolving advanced technical issues, partnering with engineering to improve product quality, and elevating the developer experience across a global user base operating at millions of users scale.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve advanced customer issues spanning Postgres internals, authentication, row-level security, storage, realtime, edge functions, and client libraries. - Provide consultative, proactive guidance to power users on workload optimization, common pitfalls, and architectural patterns. - Reproduce reported bugs, isolate root causes, propose workarounds, and escalate to engineering with reproducible steps. - Ask targeted questions that turn vague or incomplete reports into actionable, well-scoped cases. - Communicate with empathy and clarity across user levels, especially during high-impact or time-sensitive incidents. - Identify recurring patterns across tickets and recommend improvements to documentation, tooling, and the product itself. - Mentor junior team members and uplift overall support quality.
Requirements
- Seven or more years of experience in technical support, databases, backend engineering, site reliability engineering, or a related discipline. - Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, including autovacuum behavior, WAL growth, long-running transactions, and table bloat. - Strong skills in high-performance SQL and query optimization. - Comfort troubleshooting complex setups, including multi-tenant schema patterns. - Familiarity with distributed-systems debugging, edge function behavior, and data-recovery workflows such as pg_dump and restore, schema drift, and failed migrations. - Hands-on experience with cloud hosting providers such as AWS, plus comfort working in Linux and terminal environments. - Ability to form and test assumptions quickly in high-volume, fast-moving situations.
Benefits and work setup
Fully remote role with global hiring, async-first collaboration, equity participation, a co-working allowance usable worldwide, a tech allowance for home-office setup, full health insurance coverage for employees with partial dependent coverage, an annual company-wide off-site, and an education allowance for professional development.
