Role overview
Own the technical and operational direction of billing-collections infrastructure that helps businesses turn invoices into dependable revenue. You will lead an engineering team building flexible collection capabilities across customer relationships, payment methods, markets, and changing payment circumstances, while balancing reliability, customer needs, and future platform growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the team responsible for the core architecture supporting billing collection. - Set the technical strategy, roadmap, priorities, and scope for billing-collection systems. - Drive operational excellence, reliability, system health, and incident-response readiness across business-critical billing infrastructure. - Hire, coach, and develop engineers as the team expands its scope. - Partner with stakeholders across multiple organizations to deliver billing solutions and shared infrastructure. - Define and uphold engineering standards while working backwards from internal and external customer needs.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of engineering-management experience directly managing and growing teams of five or more engineers delivering products at scale. - At least 8 years of full-time software-development experience. - A track record of leading teams responsible for high-traffic, low-latency, extensible systems. - Strong user empathy and experience translating customer needs into technical priorities and shipped outcomes. - Demonstrated ability to make rigorous decisions, build effective cross-functional partnerships, navigate ambiguity, and manage competing high-impact priorities. - A sustained focus on reliability, operational health, and incident response.
Nice to have
- Experience building and leading distributed teams across locations and time zones. - A history of delivering shared infrastructure used by multiple business units. - Background in billing, metering, or large-scale distributed systems. - Experience with payment mandates, recurring-payment authorization, or related payment infrastructure.
