About this role
Role overview
Lead a cross-functional engineering team that builds the shared foundations, tooling, and standards the rest of the engineering organization relies on. The team's "customers" are other engineering squads, and the mandate covers CI/CD, security practices, developer experience, and core platform capabilities. Success in this role means balancing an internal platform roadmap against prioritized requests from multiple product teams, while developing people and improving delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a mixed-discipline team of engineers, focusing on delivery, coaching, and process improvement in a remote-first environment. - Balance the team's own technical roadmap against incoming requests from product teams, communicating trade-offs and priorities clearly. - Maintain and evolve engineering-wide standards for security, tooling, CI/CD, and developer experience that other teams build on. - Partner with the infrastructure group on shared platform concerns, with clear ownership boundaries between the two teams. - Mentor engineers, run one-on-ones, set goals, provide feedback, and grow the team through hiring and onboarding. - Establish delivery estimates, monitor progress, unblock the team, and foster documentation and knowledge sharing across the broader engineering organization.
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant software development experience, including at least 2 years in engineering leadership roles. - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field. - Comfort working across both frontend and backend stacks, with enough technical range to support a mixed-discipline team. - Hands-on background in scalability, reliability, observability, and security, with the credibility to set standards other teams follow. - Experience owning platform, DevOps, security, or developer-tooling work, including CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and incident response practices. - Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated ability to negotiate priorities across multiple teams. - Working knowledge of AI tools and the judgment to apply them to productivity, decision-making, and quality.
Benefits and work setup
- Fully remote position with flexible scheduling and a monthly stipend to cover home internet and electricity costs. - Home office equipment provided at the start, plus an upgrade budget (or co-working membership) after onboarding. - 25 days of annual leave in addition to local national holidays, plus sick leave and parental leave benefits. - Personal development fund for courses, books, conferences, and learning materials. - Virtual Stock Option Plan (VSOP) participation. - International team-building trip plus recurring online social events.
