Role overview A senior engineering role focused on building and modernizing web applications that power the daily operations of marinas, boat clubs, service yards, rental fleets, and other waterfront businesses. The work spans slips and storage, reservations, online bookings, rentals, point of sale, payments, customer and vessel records, service operations, and reporting. The position blends traditional software craftsmanship with an AI-native approach to development.
Responsibilities - Design and ship new features across frontend, backend, and third-party integrations for a marine operations platform - Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, refactoring, documentation, technical discovery, and design work - Review AI-generated output with sound engineering judgment, validating correctness, security, maintainability, and architectural fit before anything ships - Partner with infrastructure and platform colleagues when application work touches CI/CD pipelines, cloud services, deployment workflows, monitoring, or reliability - Reduce technical debt through targeted refactoring, modernization, and architectural improvements, while troubleshooting bugs and customer-reported issues - Collaborate with product, design, support, and engineering peers to translate business and customer needs into dependable technical solutions - Mentor teammates on engineering best practices and effective AI-assisted workflows, and contribute to design docs, stand-ups, retrospectives, and refinement sessions
Requirements - Several years of professional experience building and maintaining production software systems - Strong fundamentals across web application development, including comfort working across the stack - Hands-on familiarity with tools such as Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or comparable AI-assisted development platforms, used meaningfully in day-to-day work - Demonstrated ability to evaluate AI-generated code critically and apply it responsibly - Clear communication skills for explaining technical decisions to engineers and non-engineers alike - Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis and residing in an eligible state
Nice to have - Experience with React, Node.js, PHP, and MySQL - Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment environments - Background mentoring engineers or leading technical design discussions
