About this role
Role overview Set enterprise technology direction and guide a long-term platform evolution that supports product goals while improving resilience, security, scalability, and efficiency. You’ll work across engineering, data, security, operations, and product leadership to modernize complex systems while maintaining dependable services and customer trust.
Responsibilities - Define architecture principles, target capabilities, and practical modernization paths that connect business strategy to technology investments. - Translate priorities into roadmaps that balance near-term delivery with long-term reliability, security, maintainability, scalability, and cost. - Guide teams building customer features, internal tools, data products, and AI-enabled experiences toward reusable, well-governed foundations. - Establish lightweight architecture decisions, reference designs, and technical standards that help teams move quickly. - Identify systemic risks such as legacy constraints, service dependencies, weak recovery capabilities, integration complexity, performance limits, and security gaps. - Shape investment plans for cloud platforms, data architecture, observability, developer productivity, reliability, integration, and technical debt. - Set practical expectations for availability, disaster recovery, performance, and operational readiness; advise executives on major technical trade-offs and investment choices. - Build a community of senior technical leaders and communicate architectural decisions in clear business terms.
Requirements - Deep technical leadership experience in a chief architect, distinguished engineer, architecture executive, or comparable role in a complex digital, commerce, marketplace, or consumer technology setting. - Track record leading large modernization efforts spanning distributed systems, cloud platforms, data environments, integrations, and customer-facing applications. - Expertise in resilient, scalable, secure, observable systems, including reliability, performance, disaster recovery, and operational excellence. - Strong judgment in balancing immediate product delivery with long-term platform health, and experience making trade-offs clear and actionable. - Experience establishing standards and governance that support team autonomy rather than centralizing every decision. - Fluency in cloud-native engineering, APIs and event-driven integration, data platforms, AI and machine-learning foundations, security, and developer productivity. - Ability to assess technology investments by business value, risk, lifecycle cost, and organizational capacity, and to influence leaders across functions.
