Senior Software Engineer - Rails

Role overview This role focuses on building and scaling the backend systems that power a browser-based development platform and an AI-assisted application builder used by a large community of developers. The engineer will work on platform features, developer infrastructure, and integrations that enable software to be created and run entirely in the browser. It is a small, ambitious, fully remote team with a strong emphasis on shipping fast and pushing the boundaries of what is possible in developer tooling.

Responsibilities - Improve the scalability, reliability, and performance of a Ruby on Rails application that powers the core platform. - Design and optimize data storage using PostgreSQL and object storage services. - Build features supporting teams, organizations, and developer communities. - Develop integrations with external platforms to extend the product ecosystem. - Review and shape code from peers to ensure quality, security, and best practices.

Requirements - Five or more years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails. - Five or more years of experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases. - Experience with AWS and modern cloud infrastructure. - Familiarity with CSS, SASS, HTML, and related templating or styling technologies. - Comfort reviewing peer code for quality and security and collaborating across a small, distributed team.

Nice to have - Background working on developer infrastructure, IDEs, or in-browser compute platforms. - Experience integrating with third-party developer tools and platforms.
