Remote job
Staff Software Engineer, Constraint Generation
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Lead the development and deployment of motion-planning software for autonomous trucks. You’ll take complex vehicle behavior challenges from initial design through integration, helping the system produce safe, smooth trajectories while meeting product needs. The work spans architecture, implementation, testing, and collaboration across autonomy and systems teams, with a focus on performant software for compute-constrained platforms.
Responsibilities
- Own motion-planning features from design through integration, addressing on-vehicle problems and planning system requirements. - Help shape the system architecture and technical roadmap while delivering features on schedule. - Build clean, maintainable, high-performance software using modern C++ and Python. - Coordinate interfaces and solutions with teams working on trajectory generation and evaluation, prediction, perception, localization, mapping, and related areas. - Work with systems engineers and verification partners to deliver safe, thoroughly validated modules. - Use unit tests, simulation, and log simulation to evaluate behavior and support design decisions. - Present proposals and help align stakeholders during design and iteration.
Requirements
- Strong C++ and Python skills, especially for resource-constrained environments. - Experience developing software for real-world robotics or semi-autonomous platforms. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Willingness to work across different parts of the autonomous vehicle decision-making stack, including areas outside prior specialization.
Benefits and work setup
- The position involves technologies that may be subject to US export controls and national security requirements. Eligibility or work authorization checks, and in some cases an export license, may be required; restrictions could affect whether an applicant can work in the role.
